Synopsis: Financial Sector Deepening Uganda (FSDU) launched the Microinsurance Challenge Fund (MCF) in December 2018 to increase the availability and usage of appropriate insurance solutions in the underserved and unserved market segments. clinicPesa was one of the winners of MCF and received technical assistance and catalytic grant funding to support the roll-out of affordable, accessible and appropriate insurance for Uganda’s low-income segments. clinicPesa leveraged its micro-savings platform to provide access to affordable and convenient healthcare financing to the uninsured by addressing the challenges encountered with traditional health insurance such as pricey premiums. Learnings from the pilot also serve as a demonstration to other market actors.
