Synopsis: Financial Sector Deepening Uganda (FSDU) launched the Microinsurance Challenge Fund (MCF) in December 2018 to increase the availability and usage of appropriate insurance solutions in the underserved and unserved market segments. Turaco was one of the winners of MCF and received technical assistance and catalytic grant funding to partner with Fenix International, a solar energy solutions company, to improve the repayment rates of consumers by offering free health insurance cover to good payers. Learnings from the pilot also serve as a demonstration to other market actors.
