Primary Target Groups: All

Theme: Savings, Credit, Payments, Insurance, Investment

Synopsis: Financial Sector Deepening (FSD) Uganda, in partnership with the Association of Microfinance Institutions of Uganda (AMFIU) and Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) hosted a validation workshop where highlights from a study on how the COVID-19 lockdown affected savings groups were shared. The research was conducted by AMFIU in partnership with UMU and supported by FSD Uganda. The report assesses how the performance of savings groups in two sub-counties – Loro and Nkozi – were affected and explores the implications on financial inclusion. Industry associations play a critical role in advancing the developing inclusive financial markets. Through this initiative, FSD Uganda is facilitating collaboration between local industry associations and universities to promote contextually relevant research. The study is part of FSD Uganda’s industry capacity building programs.
